Active4Squash at Active4Less Stevenage

Active4Less in Stevenage is home to Stevenage Squash Club (Active4Squash). Squash is a very important part of the clubs heritage and we are extremely proud of the success we have in the sport. Stevenage Squash is affiliated to our governing body, England Squash and Racketball and has achieved a Silver Charter Award as a centre of excellence.

As a member of Active4Less, there is no extra charge for the use of the courts, these are all included in your monthly membership fee. This represents exceptional value and if you are interested in squash, we believe we are far and away the most affordable club in the area.

You will find we are a very friendly and welcoming club, where new members are encouraged to organise friendly games and meet new players. If you have joined the club and are unsure of who to play or what standard you are relative to other club players, please speak to reception and ask for Tony Gay our Squash Development Officer.
Alternatively you can call Tony on 07771631876 or simply come along to Active4Squash Club Night, held each Monday between 6pm and 8pm and enjoy a game of squash and racketball with other club members.

Below you will find more detailed information and contacts relating to squash. We hope you enjoy playing at the club and look forward to getting to know you better.

New to Squash & Racketball?

If you have never played squash and racketball before but are interested in trying, we have a number of qualified and registered coaches along with a squash development officer who would be able to provide further instruction. Alternatively, just hire a racket and ball from reception and give it a go. Sometimes in sport, you find the rules just spoil things and getting out there and having a run around is good enough to start. Many of the staff at the club are also competent squash players and will be only too happy to help you, and of course you can always come along to club night and join in the fun.

If you are young or female, we try extra hard to accommodate your interest in sport and offer organised weekly coaching sessions for both these groups. More information on coaching is provided below, but please do ask the staff at the club when you get a chance. You will find that we are only too happy to help or point you in the direction of someone who can.

Ladies Squash & Racketball

Wednesday evening is ladies squash night. From 6pm onwards ladies of all standards meet and play other female members. Also for those ladies who cannot make Wednesday evening we have a ladies afternoon on Mondays between 2pm and 3pm. Please contact Tony prior to turning up. This provides an ideal introduction to both Squash and Racketball regardless of whether you are a competent player or completely new to the sport. There is often a qualified coach on hand to provide instruction. There is no charge for ladies squash and racketball, it is organised voluntarily by other members. New players will be made very welcome and anyone interested is encouraged to come along and give it a try. For more information contact Pat Offey or Hazel Jones for Wednesday evenings or Tony Gay for Monday afternoons on the numbers below.

Friendly competition for all levels

If you are already a proficient player and wish to play competitive squash, we have a team which plays in the local county leagues. Alternatively, if you would rather play regular social squash we have an internal league system.
If you wish to participate in the internal leagues or be a member of a club team, please contact one of the below. To play in the club teams you need to be a member of the official body: England Squash and Racketball. The annual fee is £10 and you can register online at: www.englandsquashandracketball.com

For the membership you will be able to play team squash, enter regional and national tournaments and will receive a quarterly magazine.

In the near future we are hoping to enter a second team in the county leagues, so if anyone is interested please contact one of the below.
